EcoAdapta is a non-profit organisation dedicated to advancing environmental protection through research, innovation, and practical solutions. Our multidisciplinary team of scientists, consultants, engineers, and environmental specialists works across sectors to deliver sustainable strategies that address global and local challenges.

We combine creativity, technology, and scientific rigour to shape a more sustainable world, empowering communities and organisations to make informed decisions for a healthier future.

OUR MEMBERS

Elena López Gunn

Elena López Gunn

Elena López Gunn is a geographer with a PhD from King’s College London, a master’s degree in Environment and Development from the University of Cambridge, and a master’s in Investigative Journalism from Rey Juan Carlos University.

She has held academic positions at IE Business School, the London School of Economics, and the Water Observatory of the Botín Foundation. A panelist for the IPCC, Elena has collaborated with leading organisations such as UNESCO, FAO, the EU’s Directorate-General for Research and Innovation, and NGOs like Transparency International, alongside private sector partners including Repsol.

Her expertise centres on governance, socio-ecological systems, and innovation in sustainability and climate change adaptation.

Paloma Santos

Paloma Santos

President

Paloma has a degree in Advertising, Public Relations and Marketing from the ESIC Business & Marketing School University (Madrid) and the Rey Juan Carlos University (Madrid).
 
Paloma is multilingual and has developed her professional career in the marketing and communication departments of several international companies. She is an expert in marketing and design with experience in coordinating proposals and work packages for European projects, standing out for being a methodical, organized person with great adaptability.
 
At Ecoadapta Paloma is responsible for the association's presidency.

Manuel Bea

Manuel Bea

Treasurer

Manuel holds a degree in Environmental Sciences and a PhD in Geography from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.

He has extensive experience in applied research, having contributed to multiple EU-funded projects under the H2020, Marco, and LIFE programmes. Manuel has also participated in over ten evaluation processes for H2020 proposals. As a former lecturer for the Master’s in Environmental Management at IE Business School, he has shared his expertise with future environmental leaders. During his post-doctoral fellowship under the Torres-Quevedo programme, Manuel developed a multi-scale service integrating water accounting and auditing techniques.

An expert in water use accounting and territorial analysis, Manuel focuses on monitoring threats and impacts on socio-ecological systems.

OUR GOALS

The main objective of Ecoadapta is to contribute to achieve a more sustainable society: socially fair, economically viable, and that respects environmental cycles and boundaries. Ecoadapta subscribes the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and to contribute to them we seek to:

  1. Promote the resilience of society in the face of extreme climate events (such as heat waves, floods, storms and droughts).
     

  2. Stimulate society's awareness and education about climate change and sustainability.
     

  3. Facilitate discussion, transparency and social participation in matters related to the environment and to sustainability.
     

  4. Encourage the conservation and creation of natural areas, particularly in cities.
     

  5. Support the implementation of a green economy through financing and social innovation measures at the local level and taking into account vulnerable populations.
     

  6. Make visible sustainable agro-ecological, local and traditional practices that can be replicable.
     

  7. Promote good governance and management of institutions for environmental purposes.
     

  8. Support sustainability in the management of ecosystems and natural resources.
